Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance.Role OverviewWe are seeking an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to support the research and development of innovative solutions for communications and spectrum sensing systems. The ideal candidate will be an inquisitive and resourceful researcher with embedded software skills and an interest in signal processing, mathematics, and technical algorithms. This role involves designing, implementing, testing, and fielding communications platforms to provide solutions for problems of interest to the Department of Defense.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, test, and develop software packages to meet requirements and open system standards.Develop and maintain software and scripts to support development processes.Follow established embedded software/firmware development processes.Develop algorithms and code for real-time signal processing, including data transfer between system-level and embedded hardware.Create designs based on embedded systems such as FPGAs, DSPs, microcontrollers, ASICs, and GPUs.Develop documentation to support design reviews and future enhancements.Participate in project execution, including technical meetings, task completion, and presenting research.Contribute to research reports, white papers, and competitive proposals.Required QualificationsEducation: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required.
Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program with a graduation date no later than May 2026 will be considered.Experience: This is an open-rank position; the final offer will depend on candidate qualifications. A bachelor's degree with 0 years of related experience meets the minimum requirement.Technical Skills:Experience developing on embedded platforms.Experience with C, C++, and Python.Familiarity with software development concepts like source control (GIT) and agile development.Knowledge of development environments for Xilinx and Altera (Intel) technologies.Must be a U.S. Citizen.Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.Compensation & BenefitsThe anticipated salary for this position is between $86,000.00 and $150,000.00 annually.
