Embedded Cyber Software EngineerOnsite in Sterling Heights, MIEstimated Pay Range: $74.86 - $85.50/HourWe are hiring an Embedded Cyber Software Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI, to support advanced C5ISR and embedded cybersecurity solutions for military ground combat vehicles. This role requires expertise in embedded Linux, VxWorks, cybersecurity engineering, secure embedded systems, BSP development, device drivers, network protocol integration, SDLC execution, and cyber-hardened vehicle architectures supporting mission-critical defense platforms and secure tactical communications systems.Responsibilities:Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to develop software for target hardware platformsDevelop and evaluate hardware/software interfaces and system-level operational performance requirementsParticipate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, integration, formal test, and sustainmentDevelop and maintain software tools, scripts, and XML configuration files to support system configuration and verificationEnsure software compliance with accreditation standards and configuration control requirementsDesign and implement data/message protocol transformation mechanisms to enable interoperability across secure data-sharing domainsDevelop within a Security Enhanced (SELinux) embedded Linux environmentPerform device driver development and low-level OS integration (Linux/VxWorks)Integrate and configure firewalls and cybersecurity controls for embedded systemsConduct peer reviews, track defects, and implement corrective actionsSupport cyber test design, environment development, and trade studies, balancing capability, cost, reliability, schedule, and performanceDevelop and review technical artifacts, milestone documentation, and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) to ensure contract complianceQualifications:U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law, and you must be able to obtain a DoD Security ClearanceBachelor's Degree in STEM discipline (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering preferred) from an ABET-accredited universityExperience developing and implementing cybersecurity protections for embedded systemsExperience with embedded systems for automotive and/or military systemsStrong proficiency in high-level programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, or Rust (embedded focus preferred)Experience with low-level Linux or VxWorks OS internalsExperience with Board Support Packages (BSPs) and hardware/software integrationExperience developing Linux or VxWorks device driversKnowledge of network protocols and communication interfaces: TCP/IP, UART, SPI, I2CExperience across full SDLC phases, including architecture, requirements decomposition, OO development, integration, and testExperience with reverse engineering and software analysisWorking knowledge of IDEs, version control systems, defect tracking tools, scripting, and CI/CD pipelinesAbility to interpret customer requirements and flow down to technical implementationFamiliarity with electrical Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and electronic hardware troubleshootingAbility to work non-duty hours or weekends as requiredMust meet Anthropometric Size Restrictions for access to military vehicles and be able to climb on vehicles and pass through hatchesPreferred Qualifications:Active Cybersecurity certifications such as (CISSP, CEH)Moseley Technical Services, Inc.
