Elementary School Social Worker
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in School Social Work
Valid State of Michigan Certification as a School Social Worker
Essential Duties:
- Provide school social work support and services to general education students as part of the District Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Provide school social work support and services to students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of a wide range of psychiatric disorders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
- Effective collaboration with parents, educational staff and community agencies to coordinate programs and services for students and families
- Strong diagnostic skills and experience participating in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team process
- Experience facilitating the IEP process and engagement in the Section 504 Process
- Knowledge and use of Positive Behavioral Supports
- Active participant in functional behavioral analysis (FBA) and development of behavior intervention plans (BIP)
- Administration of Threat and Risk Assessments
- Trained in, or willing to be trained in non-violent crisis intervention
- Conduct home visits as appropriate
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
