RSU 3 is seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Social Worker to join our innovative and collaborative team for the school year. This is a full-time, certified position focused on supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success while fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with students, families, staff, and community partners to remove barriers to learning and promote student well-being.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide individual and small-group therapy to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans for students requiring additional support
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and special education staff to create effective student support systems
- Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community agencies/resources
- Support attendance improvement efforts and family engagement initiatives
- Assist in crisis prevention, intervention, and response planning
- Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS/RTI, and student support team meetings as appropriate
- Promote a positive school climate through restorative, trauma-informed, and equity-centered practices
- Maintain confidential student records and documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Valid Maine Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred
- CHRC (Criminal History Records Check) or the ability to obtain
- Master's degree in Social Work or related field required
- Experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting is preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, mental health supports, and student intervention systems
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the success of all learners
