Elementary Paraprofessional Instructional Aide
Location - Hico Elementary School
Under the direct supervision of Elementary Principal, the paraprofessional will assist in reinforcing instructional goals and objectives, support students individually or in groups, and take on non-instructional duties to allow teachers to focus on curriculum and instruction. Duties and work areas will be assigned by the Principal and discussed during the interview.

Essential Job Functions
- Support student learning in reading, language arts, math, computer skills, and other core subjects.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and implement assigned programs.
- Assist in the preparation, administration, and correction of classroom materials, tests, and assessments.
- Help prepare instructional strategies and materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Maintain classroom records and documentation of student learning and performance.
- Support classroom behavior management and maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Supervise students in non-instructional areas: lunchroom, hallways, bus duty, playground, etc.
- Accompany and assist with student supervision during field trips.
- Copy, distribute, and use instructional materials as needed.
- Support teacher communication with parents and guardians as requested.
- Assist students with special needs in all aspects of instruction, including achieving IEP goals.
- Participate in the IEP process and provide support to the evaluation team.
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with daily living activities to enhance learning participation.
- Follow all safety protocols, especially for students with special needs.
Additional Duties
- Assist counselors, administrative staff, or other school personnel as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Standard office and classroom equipment (computers, copiers, etc.)
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel between schools or district buildings may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Basic math skills
- Proficiency with computers and standard software (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students and staff
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Build compassionate, supportive relationships with students
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors during student activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Paraprofessional certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Prior experience in an educational setting is a plus
Work Environment
- Standard school and classroom settings
- Occasional outdoor duties
