Elementary Literacy Coach
Qualifications: The successful candidate must be supportive of Clarkston Community Schools' Mission and Vision and will possess the best combination of the following: valid Michigan teaching certificate in a related subject area. In-depth knowledge of reading and writing processes and acquisition. Effective one-on-one, small and large group communication skills. Recognition of the varied purposes of assessment (screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and achievement); ability to select assessments to meet these purposes; capacity to use assessment results to inform instruction. Successful classroom teaching experience. Evidence of life-long learning with a passion for literacy. Experience as a facilitator of professional learning is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Build strong collaborative and trusting relationships with administrators, teachers, interventionists, and instructional support personnel. Engage in encouraging, non-evaluative and confidential dialogue, focused on student growth, with principals, teachers, interventionists, and instructional support personnel. Work closely with classroom teachers to strengthen Tier 1 instruction. Analyze assessment data in the company of colleagues to determine targeted instruction, interventions, and instructional resources. Plan, model, co-teach, and reflect on best practice core instruction, as well as interventions, within the MTSS model. Facilitate multiple professional learning opportunities. Support at-home literacy learning in partnership with families. Collaborate with district and building literacy teams to ensure growth for all.
