POSITION OVERVIEW
The teacher will follow the charge of the principal or designated Administrator. This position follows a school-year calendar. The
Teacher will implement the school's instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment and will guide
students to achieve their full potential in both academic and character development in accordance with the school's mission.

Professional Responsibilities
• Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans aligned with the assigned grade level and/or content area curriculum, at the
direction of the Director of Academics
• Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests, and assignments
• Maintains an orderly and structured classroom environment
• Takes timely and accurate student attendance
• Provides appropriate feedback on student work
• Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses that information to adjust teaching and
classroom management strategies
• Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding the progress and needs
of individual students
• Contribute to the implementation of special projects when assigned
• Help supervise student activities as directed (e.g., arrivals/departures, parking lots, lunch periods, hall duty, extracurricular programs, etc.)
• Participation in general staff meetings
• Participates in Parent-Teacher Conferences
• Participates in professional development activities as directed by the school
• Prepares and maintains accurate records; submits reports on time; maintains school records for the maximum period
mandated by law and/or board policy
• Executes, organizes, and oversees any other work critical to the general success of the school as directed
• Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
Other
• Ensures work areas are clean before leaving at the end of the day
• School mailbox emptied daily
• Use of daily electronic mail system is expected
• Attendance is required for safety and job-related training
• Must ensure nothing confidential or dangerous is accessible to others who should not have access
• Must follow all confidentiality requirements and be in compliance with all Parnassus policies
• Will perform additional duties as assigned
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
• Work Level: Light to moderate physical activity; exerting up to 25 lbs occasionally and 10 15 lbs frequently (e.g., moving
instructional materials or supplies).
• Mobility & Positioning: Requires ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to move throughout classrooms
and school spaces; frequent position changes including sitting, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and
turning.
• Manual Dexterity: Requires hand and finger dexterity for writing, keyboarding, operating classroom/technology
equipment, and handling instructional materials; may involve repetitive motion.
• Vision: Requires near, mid-range, and distance vision for reading and reviewing student work, using technology, and
supervising students; ability to identify/distinguish colors as needed.
• Hearing & Speech: Requires the ability to communicate clearly (speaking and listening) and to hear and respond to
students and safety cues in a typical school environment.
• Supervision: Requires ability to actively monitor and supervise students in classrooms and other school settings (e.g.,
hallways, common areas, outdoors, and during school activities as assigned).
• Technology Use: Regular use of computers and instructional technology; requires viewing and working at a computer
screen for extended periods.
• Environment: Primarily indoors; may include outdoor duties and exposure to varying weather; may be exposed to typical
school conditions such as noise, interruptions, and communicable illnesses.
• Pace & Pressure: May require sustained attention and work pace/pressure due to multiple tasks, timelines, and student
needs.
Qualifications
• Hold a Minnesota State teaching license
• Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Ability and willingness to teach the classical trivium and sequence model as defined by the school
• The ability to speak and write clearly and effectively
• Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education
• Ability to maintain an orderly classroom
Critical Working Relationships
This position will maintain additional working relationships with the Parnassus Preparatory School administrators, faculty and
staff, students, and community, as well as with various vendors of the school.

The Teacher will represent the Parnassus Preparatory School with professionalism and respect and will uphold the school's
standards and philosophy. It is essential that high standards of confidentiality be maintained within the school and in the
community. The Teacher is expected to uphold Parnassus Preparatory School Board's policies and expectations in all
communications with faculty, staff, students, parents, school employees, vendors, and the community.
Compensation:
Pay range: $45,150 - $81,375
