Electronics Controls TechnicianPrintpack is a leading manufacturer in the packaging industry, committed to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional customer service. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electronics Controls Technician to join our dynamic team.The Electronics Controls Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment in a manufacturing environment. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal performance of industrial control systems, PLCs, and various electronic components while maintaining safety standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.Key Responsibilities:Install, troubleshoot, and maintain complex electronic/electrical equipment, including comprehensive work on PLCs, motor relays, circuit breakers, and industrial control systems to ensure optimal facility operationsDiagnose, repair, and maintain sophisticated electronic systems, including detailed work with PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, vision systems, and AC/DC drives, while ensuring all automated manufacturing equipment operates at peak efficiencyPerform precise calibration, alignment, and modification of electronic components and circuitry, implementing preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and performance metricsModify and program PLC systems and machine logic, including creation and maintenance of ladder logic programs, while maintaining comprehensive system backups and documentationAssist in developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for maintenance associates, creating detailed technical materials and conducting hands-on instruction sessions for equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocolsManage facility-wide electrical safety initiatives and arc flash program, ensuring strict OSHA compliance, conducting regular audits, and maintaining up-to-date documentation of all safety proceduresExecute complex system upgrades and modifications, including designing electrical layouts, installing conduit systems, sizing appropriate wiring, and implementing advanced control system improvements to enhance production efficiencySupport large-scale engineering projects from conception through implementation, providing expert technical guidance and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processesMaintain and document critical manufacturing equipment programs through systematic backup procedures for PLCs, HMIs, drives, and vision systems, ensuring business continuityPerform advanced troubleshooting of complex electronic issues using sophisticated diagnostic equipment and technical documentation, implementing both immediate solutions and long-term preventive measuresCoordinate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical challenges, implement system improvements, and maintain rigorous equipment performance standardsParticipate in facility-wide continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for system upgrades, process enhancements, and efficiency improvements, including cost-saving measuresPerform and maintain comprehensive Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures and safety systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations while protecting personnel and equipmentMust be willing to help troubleshoot and repair mechanical problemsOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience:High school diploma/GED (Electronics Technology degree desired) orApprentice completion in electrical trades orhands on experience as Electronics Technician preferredRequired Skills:Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshootingProficiency in Mechanical SkillsStrong knowledge of industrial controls and automationExperience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platformsExpertise in electrical/electronic systems troubleshootingUnderstanding of NEC electrical codesAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteIndustrial electronics expertiseServo and drive systemsElectrical safety knowledgeTraining capabilitiesProblem-solving abilityAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Industrial control systems and automationPLC programming and ladder logicElectrical and electronic theorySafety protocols and proceduresProcess control systemsIndustrial networking and communicationsNEC and safety regulationsAdvanced troubleshooting and Technical problem-solvingEquipment calibrationProgramming and software modificationTechnical documentationTraining and mentoringPreventive maintenanceManage multiple prioritiesEffective CommunicationAdapt to changing technologyMake quick decisions under pressureLead and coordinate projectsBasic knowledge of Machine tools; Lathes, Mills, Drill PressBasic knowledge of welding, and sheet metal fabricationPhysical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Ability to lift and move up to 50 poundsStanding/walking for extended periodsWorking in various positions (bending, kneeling, reaching)Required to lift, bend, crouch, reach, twist, and crawl.Exposure to manufacturing environment (noise, heat, chemicals)May require working in confined spacesRequired to work in high places.Required to ascend and descend ladders safely.Ability to safely operate mobile equipment.Ability to wear respiratory protection as neededAbility to wear ARC flash equipmentAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Travel Requirements: Travel is not required in this position.Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machinerySolvents, fumes and inksConcrete floors, roof areasWorking at heights, hot workWorks near energized and moving equipmentVariable TemperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require nights, weekends, and holidays.An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (6pm - 6am).Additional Internal Requirements:Must demonstrate Core ValuesMust be in good standing with no disciplinary action or attendance issuesMust have performer or higher in last reviewDemonstrated sense of urgency in production recovery situationsPrintpack is proudly an equal-opportunity employer.
