Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.Job OverviewThe Electro-Mechanical Engineer/Automation is a hands-on developer of automated production equipment used in our internal manufacturing processes. Provide technical design support in developing and debugging automation equipment utilizing robots, HMIs, PLCs, and a variety of controls.

This position is located in Nashville, TN.Major Tasks and ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new equipment utilizing robotics and integration of HMI, PLC and application integrationDesign mechanical and electrical upgrades and improvements for production equipment utilizing in-house design as well as outside contractor partners for the design and fabrication of that equipmentRecommend, plan and implement equipment upgrades to improve production efficiency and/or cost reductionsCollaborate with product management, manufacturing, design engineering teams, and external design partnersEnsure that equipment is maintained in a fashion that is safe and assures products can be produced to specificationProvide design oversight and consultation to multiple development and support activitiesDevelop protocols and provide for data acquisition from machine controllersEnsure compliance of Hayward's lean manufacturing principles and ensure machine capabilities to prescribed standardsCapabilities/Qualifications3 or more years' experience with Electro-Mechanical Equipment and Controls technologiesExperience with PLC ladder logic, analog signals, networking, wireless communications, HMI panel programming and Data Acquisition, and vision system integrationExperience with Solid Works preferred AutoCAD mechanicalRequires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied in programming and troubleshooting of machine control processesDemonstrated expertise managing machine design projects from concept through deploymentKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing a plusGood communication and interpersonal, ability to interact with all levels of management vendors. Capable of working in a team environmentEducationBS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree
