Electro-MechanicAre you experienced in troubleshooting automobiles, heavy-duty equipment, and/or the repair of electrically powered transit vehicles? If so, VTA is hiring highly skilled Electro-Mechanics to maintain our fleet of light rail vehicles. Come join our team and implement preventive maintenance and safety inspection procedures.

Under general supervision, the Electro-Mechanic performs skilled electrical/electronic and mechanical work to diagnose, maintain, repair, rebuild, overhaul, service, inspect, and test light rail transit vehicles and equipment.The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and safety-conscious Electro-Mechanic with proven experience maintaining and automotive experience. They demonstrate in-depth knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, analog and digital electronics, control circuitry, and associated mechanical components such as motors, brakes, HVAC, and lighting systems. They are adept at troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling transit vehicles and systems.

The candidate is capable of performing precision electronic tasks such as soldering and harnessing, utilizing shop tools and testing equipment, and interpreting complex technical documents, including service manuals, bulletins, and parts catalogs. Employers can create a family-friendly workplace by meeting and exceeding state and federal employment laws relating to parental leave, lactation accommodation, and work/family balance.Typical tasks include performing safety and preventive maintenance inspections of vehicles, systems and equipment; documenting defects, maintenance and repairs; testing, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling light rail vehicle electrical, electronic and mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturer instructions; operating and maintaining shop equipment and tools; making time and material cost estimates and maintaining records; performing re-railing of equipment; familiarizing other workers in vehicle maintenance and repair, car movements, and maintenance of shop equipment; installing communication devices on cars; maintaining a safe and clean shop area; operating computer for related data input and retrieval; preparing written reports, documents defects and repairs on inspection forms, work orders, or designated computer programs; and performing related work as required.
