Electrician/Machinist

Electrician/MachinistMust be able to repair and have knowledge of EMD locomotive electrical systems, as well as other electrical systems. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems. Must be able to read and understand electrical blueprints and drawings. Take class on electrical training from Railway educational Bureau or previous Qualified Electrical. Must be able to climb, work at high levels, and lift heavy material. Must have knowledge of EMD diesel engines, air compressors, air brake equipment, gas engines and other related mechanical equipment. Other skills include the ability to weld and fabricate metal using a torch and electric welding machines. Must be proficient in the use of computers and office equipment. Must have a valid driver's license. May be required to maintain records of repairs and inspections of locomotives and other related machinery. Will be cross trained as Machinist. Inspect and repair railcars in compliance with applicable FRA and AAR regulations and standards. Other duties as assigned.Pay will be per contract:$32.43/hour first year$34.34/hour second year$38.15/hour full pay after completing second year.The person in this position operates mechanical equipment to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts.

Responsibilities include performing all tasks connected with locomotive major repair, rebuild, and diagnostics; performing electrical testing and repair, including testing and replacing printed circuit cards; diagnosing electrical problems in both power circuits and control circuits; performing welding repairs and new-metal fabrication as part of the repair or construction of all equipment and locomotives; performing all air brake cleaning and testing as specified by FRA standards and company policy; using locomotive wheel truing equipment and understanding the operation of drill press and lathes; operating, repairing, adjusting and cleaning heating equipment (engine-house boiler and related equipment); keeping records and reports in accordance with FRA regulations and company policy; assisting with other projects and performing other duties as assigned.Required skills and/or experience include two years of related experience and/or training.Required education and/or credentials include high school diploma or GED, two years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
