nThe successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. The Electrician will work with the Small Construction Services group by testing the availability of utilities, preventive maintenance and overall support to the electrical systems team and electrical distribution system.
nAll work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.
nResponsibilities:

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy

Installation or repair of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment
n n - n
Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment
n n - n
New construction work running conduit and installing electrical services
n n - n
Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
n n - n
Use a variety of electrician's hand tools, measuring and testing
n n - n
Work will include additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
nU.S. Citizenship required. Eight years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade school program. Must be Virginia state licensed, journeyman level worker. Must be able to effectively communicate with others.

nTest Environment (85%) - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Travel between various facilities and during test operations is required. May bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operations. (15%)

nVisual and physical (hands on) contact of test related systems, hardware, and articles.
nMust be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift-up to 35 lbs. (100%).
