Construction Electrician (Commercial New Construction)

This role focuses on installing complete electrical systems for large-scale commercial new construction projects. You will work from the ground up, including underground distribution, conduit systems, power distribution equipment, lighting, and branch circuitry, while ensuring compliance with project specifications, NEC requirements, and site safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Install electrical systems for new commercial construction projects from rough-in through final completion.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and installation details to plan and execute work accurately.
  • Install EMT, RMC, PVC, and underground conduit systems in accordance with project requirements.
  • Measure, fabricate, and install conduit runs using mechanical and hydraulic benders.
  • Pull, route, and terminate power, lighting, and control wiring for various electrical systems.
  • Install cable tray, supports, strut systems, and electrical raceways to support wiring and equipment.
  • Install switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, and other power distribution equipment.
  • Lay out and install branch circuits, feeders, and electrical equipment according to project drawings and specifications.
  • Install lighting systems, occupancy controls, receptacles, and specialty electrical devices.
  • Perform electrical equipment terminations and verify proper installation prior to energization.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components as needed to ensure proper operation.
  • Coordinate work activities with general contractors, project managers, and other construction trades to maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout all phases of construction.
  • Comply with all OSHA requirements, site-specific safety policies, and NEC standards.
  • Meet production schedules and project milestones while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of commercial electrical construction experience.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Strong ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical drawings, and electrical layouts.
  • Extensive experience with conduit installation and conduit bending, including EMT, RMC, PVC, and underground conduit systems.
  • Proficiency in pulling, routing, and terminating electrical wiring for power, lighting, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of commercial power distribution systems and components.
  • Ability to install switchgear, transformers, panelboards, disconnects, and related electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with NEC requirements and commercial construction standards.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for work as required by the project.
  • Commitment to following OSHA and site-specific safety policies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience installing lighting systems, panels, switches, and specialty electrical devices.
  • Experience installing cable tray, supports, strut systems, and electrical raceways.
  • Strong schematic reading skills for troubleshooting and system layout.
  • Experience working on complex, multi-building construction projects is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based on a new construction site for a large state correctional facility consisting of approximately 17 buildings. You will work in an active construction environment and will be subject to outdoor elements at times, as well as working inside buildings that may not yet have climate control. The standard shift runs from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 45-minute lunch break. Depending on project demands, you may be asked to work 5 or 6 days per week at certain times. The role involves typical commercial construction tools and equipment for electrical installation, conduit work, and power distribution systems in a field-based, hands-on setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
