Electrical Worker

Job TitleElectrician DutiesIndividually or as part of a team, installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, tests, and loads new and existing electrical distribution systems, equipment and their components.Locates broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls and equipment using visual checks or a variety of test equipment such as test lamps, voltage testers, ammeters, and polarity testers.Completes needed repairs to installed systems and rearranges and hooks up items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators, and circuit breakers.Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment, distribution circuits and controlling equipment to locate and correct the cause of outages and improper operation.Works with electricians and electronics workers in making emergency cutouts and substitution of power lines and equipment, sometimes working on secondary distribution systems when they are energized.Works with electricians and electronics workers on scheduled and unscheduled adjusting, cleaning, repairing, replacing defective parts, and lubricating programs on all electrical equipment with related accessories.Places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices.References National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and electrical maintenance and repair manual as pertains to the work.Restarts equipment affected by a partial or complete loss of power in the proper sequence and maintain containment ventilation for the numerous ventilating systems.Complies with NBAF and agency safety requirements and precautions while working in areas where the subject regulations apply.Observes safety and housekeeping rules and assures proper use of personal protective equipment.Ensures adherence to conduct, safety, fire, care of equipment, housekeeping rules and regulations.Uses word processing and Computer Maintenance Management System software to accurately maintain records such as documenting or recording equipment numbers, work order tasking, time and materials as required for preventative and planned maintenance.Operates government-owned vehicles for official purposes.
