Electrical Test EngineerThe Electrical Test Engineer will be responsible for the development of test equipment for electronic assemblies including PCBs and completed avionics and power systems. The final assemblies are space-flight systems that require rigorous testing to ensure quality. The engineer will design and develop electrical test hardware and circuitry, create and validate automated and manual test solutions for electronics, and investigate and resolve hardware, communication, and system-level issues to support product development and manufacturing.

The position reports to the Test Engineering Group Manager and will work with a team of hardware and software test engineers developing tests for all of Orbion's products, including Hall-effect thrusters, propellent feed systems, power processing units, and integrated propulsion modules.Responsibilities:Design hardware components including test fixtures, interface hardware, cable harnesses, and custom circuit boardsDevelop and validate electrical functional testsDesign electrical circuit boards, such as signal and power conditioning, industrial controls, etc.Troubleshooting test equipment failures at the component, board, harness, and system levelDevelop integrated systems using fieldbus and ethernet communications (Modbus, CAN bus, TCP, etc.)Create wiring/interface diagramsTroubleshoot electronics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory equipmentDesign basic mechanical enclosures and panelsAnalyze systems data to make changes to the hardware configurationAuthor and maintain technical documentationParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and product validation activitiesOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Must meet definition of US PersonDegree in Electrical Engineering or directly related field2-5 years' experience in a production or laboratory environment2+ years' experience with integrated test system design and developmentExperience with measurement and test software/hardwareStrong understanding of analog/digital circuits, power suppliesAn ability to collaborate in a team setting as well as be an active individual contributorWillingness to travel on occasion (10%)Preferred Qualifications:Experience modeling/simulating electrical circuit operation in a spice program (e.g. LTSpice)Previous experience in the aerospace, medical, and/or defense industries5+ years' experience with integrated test hardware/software design and developmentExperience with manufacturing high reliability equipmentExperience with vacuum chambers and vacuum-rated materialsExperience with data acquisition systems and hardware (LabVIEW, PLCs, etc.)A solid understanding of applicable engineering principles, business practices, and experience working directly with hardware in the aerospace industry is highly desirableManufacturing experience in an AS9100, ISO9001 environmentSome experience with a parametric CAD program (SolidWorks, UGNX, or similar)Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of standing on concrete surfaces and at times, sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift/carry up to 40lbs loads from floor level to chest levelManual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipmentFine motor skills required for minute adjustmentsCompensation/Benefits:Enjoy a very competitive starting salary based on your knowledge and experience.
