Electrical Tester
The Electrical Tester will troubleshoot and test industrial transformers and related electrical components in a climate-controlled environment. This role focuses on reading and interpreting electrical prints, blueprints, and schematics, performing dielectric and controls testing on high-voltage equipment, and configuring power supplies and generators to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and test industrial transformers to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Read and interpret electrical prints, blueprints, and schematics to guide testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Test electrical components and configure power supplies and generators according to technical specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical problems in high-voltage systems and control boxes.
- Perform dielectric testing and controls testing on various voltage levels to verify insulation integrity and control performance.
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems and components to identify defects or potential issues.
- Use micrometers and other precision measurement tools to verify component dimensions and tolerances.
- Test oil quality in transformers and related equipment to maintain performance and safety standards.
- Apply electrical maintenance practices to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, to support testing schedules and production needs.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical problems in industrial or high-voltage environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Experience performing dielectric testing on high-voltage transformers and controls.
- Proficiency in testing electrical components and configuring power supplies and generators.
- Strong electrical maintenance experience with practical experience on industrial equipment.
- Comfort working with high-voltage systems while following strict safety procedures.
- Ability to use micrometers and other precision measurement tools for inspections.
- Experience testing oil quality in transformers or similar equipment.
- Flexibility to work 3rd shift and availability to work weekends as needed.
- Capability to perform physically active work, including standing for long periods, climbing stairs, and working on large transformers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in candidates early in their career with an electrical engineering degree.
- Experience testing controls within electrical boxes and performing dielectric testing on high-voltage transformers.
- Experience in avionics or military technical roles, particularly avionics technicians, is highly compatible with this work.
- Electrical inspection experience in an industrial setting.
- Ability to learn and grow into increasingly complex testing responsibilities over time.
- Willingness to work in a structured environment with regular performance reviews and pay increase eligibility.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a climate-controlled facility focused on industrial transformer testing and electrical diagnostics. You will spend most of your time on your feet, moving around the production and testing areas, climbing stairs, and working directly on large transformers and associated equipment. The environment is structured and safety-conscious, with regular use of precision tools such as micrometers and specialized testing equipment for dielectric and oil quality analysis. The role is on 3rd shift with required flexibility for weekend work, where Saturday hours are paid at time-and-a-half and Sunday hours at double-time, supporting both operational needs and earning potential.
