Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician evaluates, assembles, and maintains electrical systems during the installation of parts on vehicle cabs, bodies, and aerial lifts mounted onto truck bodies. This role focuses on electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and repair within an automotive upfitting environment, ensuring all systems function safely and reliably.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus on vehicle cabs, bodies, and aerial lifts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning electrical and electronic equipment, appliances, and apparatus to restore proper operation.
  • Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications to support installation and repair activities.
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to perform accurate installations and repairs.
  • Advise leadership on the continued use of unsuitable or unsafe equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting to isolate electrical problems and determine appropriate repair actions.
  • Perform repairs involving minor mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as needed.
  • Identify parts that need repair or replacement and ensure appropriate components are selected.
  • Locate replacement parts in manuals and prepare requisitions to obtain required materials.
  • Provide and properly use tools required to perform assigned repair and installation tasks.
  • Observe all safety precautions and procedures as required by the company.
  • Use and wear all required safety equipment consistently while performing duties.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions, or equipment discovered during work activities.
  • Clean and maintain the work area to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production, electrical assembly, and wiring tasks.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Electrical Technician preferred, with hands-on work in electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial wiring and power distribution.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive electrical systems and 12V electrical wiring.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to perform minor repairs and installations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a group or team to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in certain conditions while completing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment subject to heat, cold, noise, dust, and odors.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts as required by the company.
  • Forklift operator certification will be required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and share technical information clearly.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and fault-testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Two-year Electrical, Technical, or related degree preferred.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship is a plus.
  • Automotive upfitting experience is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with electrical assembly and production work.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when working with wiring, installations, and safety procedures.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled vehicle upfitting facility focused on service trucks, where work is performed around automotive bodies and electrical systems. The environment includes typical manufacturing conditions such as exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and odors. Team members regularly use hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and fault-testing devices while working on electrical wiring and installations. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, providing a consistent schedule within a production-focused setting. Appropriate safety equipment and attire are required and provided to ensure safe work practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Haslet, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
