Role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, testing, and maintaining low- and medium-voltage switchgear and protective devices to ensure reliable power distribution.What We Offer (Benefits & Compensation)$30–$40 per hour, based on experienceOvertime eligible; typical 40–45 hours per weekFull-time, field-based; up to 25% regional travelPay range aligns with local market data for switchgear technicians.Key Responsibilities – Electrical Switchgear & Control TechnicianDiagnose electrical faults in LV/MV switchgear using meters, relay test sets, and analysisRepair/replace breakers, relays, contactors, CTs/VTs, switches, cabling, and wiringExecute functional tests: insulation resistance, contact resistance, primary/secondary injection, relay verificationPerform preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, torqueing, infrared inspection, calibrationCommission or return to service per acceptance/maintenance test specsRespond to emergency calls to minimize downtime and restore serviceCommunicate status and recommendations to customers; capture parts and labor usedDocument test results and service reports with accurate records retentionFollow LOTO and arc-flash safety per NFPA 70E and site proceduresQualifications – Electrical Switchgear & Control TechnicianHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma/cert in electrical or electromechanical preferredProven switchgear service/repair experience with strong troubleshootingRead/interpret one-lines, schematics, and OEM manualsProficient with test gear: multimeter, megohmmeter, primary/secondary injection, relay test setKnowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, PPE, and arc-flash practicesClear communication and customer service; accurate documentationIndependent and team-based work capabilityValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordWilling to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies; travel up to 25% MidwestOvertime available; typical 40–45 hours per weekPreferred Qualifications – Switchgear Service and Repair TechnicianFamiliarity with ANSI/NETA ATS/MTS testing methods and tolerancesExperience with power quality analyzers and thermographyBasic PLC/HMI awareness for interlocks and controlsPhysical Requirements – Electrical Switchgear & Control TechnicianLift, carry, and maneuver up to 75 lbsWork at heights and in confined spacesBend, kneel, reach, and stand for prolonged periodsField environments including industrial plants and substations; PPE required
