Job Description

The Electrical Superintendent will lead electrical teams on large scale projects from pre‑construction through final completion. Responsibilities include safety, quality, client relations, project budget, schedule, job controls, vendor management, submittals, and procedures.

Summary

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for electrical industrial projects.
  • Project types include steel/ manufacturing, power, data centers, and MEP related projects across diverse industries and clients.
  • Typically oversees one large project or multiple smaller projects.
  • Ensures project goals are achieved within time and funding parameters.
  • Manages Project Engineers, General Foreman, and Foremen who supervise construction employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set a safety 24/7 culture for crews.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client to facilitate construction activities.
  • Lead construction projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Ensure team members have appropriate resources (equipment, material, information).
  • Provide expertise and knowledge to team members as needed; assist with startup and closeout problems.
  • Work with Project Manager and Director on personnel issues and actions in accordance with company policies and government laws.
  • Identify and minimize obstacles throughout the construction process.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy.
  • Confere with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Review project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, funding limits, staffing requirements, and resources.
  • Review status reports and modify schedules or plans as needed.
  • Provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with subcontractors.
  • Understand and execute CPM‑based project schedules.
  • Represent company in owner progress meetings.
  • Lead project team in daily field coordination meetings, weekly block schedule meetings, and monthly safety kickoff meetings.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance, reward or discipline, and resolve complaints or problems in accordance with policies and laws.

Education and Experience

  • 10 years field experience as a skilled tradesperson, or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management plus 7 years field experience.
  • 4‑year engineering or construction management degree or equivalent technical experience, progressing from Journeyman to Foreman to Superintendent.
  • Prior experience on union projects preferred.
