Product Safety Engineer (Electrical & Medical Devices)
Our client, a leading testing and certification organization, is looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in electrical safety testing who wants broad exposure across consumer, industrial, and medical device product categories - working hands-on in the lab while building deep standards and certification expertise.
The Role
- Support product safety evaluations and testing activities for electrical, electronic, and medical electrical equipment in accordance with applicable national and international standards
- Perform routine safety testing including leakage current, dielectric strength, temperature, abnormal operation, mechanical hazards, grounding continuity, flammability, and EMC pre-compliance evaluations
- Assist with product and component assessments against standards such as IEC/UL/EN 60601-1, 60601-1-2, 61010-1, 62368-1, and 60335-1, plus related collateral and particular standards
- Review technical documentation including schematics, risk management files, bills of materials, insulation diagrams, user manuals, and labeling for compliance with regulatory and certification requirements
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred)
- 2–5 years' experience in electrical product safety testing, compliance engineering, or laboratory environments
- Working knowledge of relevant safety standards (e.g. 60601-1, 61010-1, 62368-1, 60335-1) — medical device standards experience a plus
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation: oscilloscopes, hipot testers, leakage current analyzers, multimeters, power analyzers, and environmental chambers
