Electrical Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and reliable operations of electrical systems across air separation, CO₂, liquid hydrogen, HyCO, and other industrial gas production facilities.
  • Act as primary technical resource for low, medium, and high voltage electrical distribution equipment including switchgear, transformers, synchronous motors, and induction motors.
  • Monitor preventive and predictive maintenance programs such as transformer oil analysis, thermography, and partial discharge testing, ensuring timely resolution of findings.
  • Identify and resolve chronic electrical asset issues and eliminate recurring equipment failures.
  • Develop and execute small electrical projects (<$500k) focused on reliability improvements.
  • Plan long‑term corrective actions for electrical reliability threats and aging infrastructure.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to ensure optimal operation of regional electrical assets.
  • Support cost estimation for corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and electrical project work.
  • Assist with turnaround planning and execution for regional electrical systems.
  • Lead root cause analysis for major electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive resolution of high‑impact electrical issues with urgency and technical accuracy.
  • Serve as the regional electrical maintenance engineer supporting the Magna, UT facility and surrounding region.
  • Perform combined office and field work with approximately 25% domestic travel and occasional off‑hours accessibility.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with more than five (5+) years of maintenance/reliability engineering experience focused on electrical assets, OR non‑degree holder with 15+ years of equivalent electrical maintenance/reliability experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Proven experience with electrical distribution systems including installation and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high‑voltage switchgear, transformers, synchronous motors, and induction motors.
  • Knowledge of electrical preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, tools, and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and within technical teams to manage tasks and drive results.
  • Experience using CMMS systems and proficiency with standard software packages (MS Office, email, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple technical tasks with minimal supervision and deliver results.
  • Effective communication skills for technical documentation.
