Position Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing lightning protection and grounding projects from contract award through final completion. This position ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable industry codes. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, electrical contractors, vendors, and field personnel while maintaining strong communication throughout the life of each project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple lightning protection and grounding projects simultaneously from startup through closeout.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and scope of work to ensure complete understanding of project requirements.
  • Read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and electrical drawings related to lightning protection and grounding installations.
  • Coordinate project schedules with customers, general contractors, electrical contractors, suppliers, and field personnel, in collaboration with the General Superintendent.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in a neat, professional, and workmanlike manner, in collaboration with the General Superintendent.
  • Conduct project meetings and provide regular status updates to management and customers.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve scheduling, labor, material, and installation issues.
  • Track project submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), contracts, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required project documentation in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records and files throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate project closeout documentation, warranties, certifications, and final acceptance.
  • Perform material take-offs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Order project materials and coordinate deliveries to jobsites.
  • Monitor material usage and inventory to minimize waste and project delays.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of materials.
  • Prepare and review project billings and invoices; assist with collections as needed.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, projections, and job costing reports.
  • Monitor labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs to ensure project profitability.

Key Responsibilities (Continued):

  • Identify and communicate cost impacts and potential budget concerns.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, project specifications, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Obtain required certifications, inspections, and approvals related to project plans and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor workmanship, quality, and project progress, in collaboration with the General Superintendent.
  • Assist in resolving field issues and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company, customers, engineers, architects, general contractors, electrical contractors, suppliers, and field crews.
  • Communicate effectively with company employees and jobsite personnel in every facet of the project, in collaboration with the General Superintendent.
  • Provide direction and support to field supervisors and installation crews.
  • Foster positive working relationships with customers and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean and professional condition.
  • Schedule and document routine vehicle maintenance and inspections.
  • Properly maintain all company-issued electronics, including laptops, tablets, cell phones, and other equipment, in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' work experience in lightning protection or equivalent leadership experience in similar field.
  • Excellent knowledge of lightning protection or similar trade required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Ability to pass company and jobsite background check and drug & alcohol test requirements. Ability to work well with others, as well as individually. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with project management software is preferred. Must be able to display professionalism in personal presentation and all business interactions. OSHA 30 Certification; additional safety and equipment certifications/training a plus. Knowledge of construction workforce requirements (certifications, unions, safety compliance) is a plus. Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time, including overnight stays and possible air travel. Ability to visit multiple project sites throughout assigned territories as required.
