SSI supports multiple Government and Commercial Payload Processing and launch vehicle integration activities in a secure environment. The Engineering/Facilities Technician performs preventative maintenance, assists with cleanroom cleaning, and repairs/installs for critical facility systems including: facility control systems, power generation, fire detection, UPS, HVAC, and other electrical and mechanical systems.This position is required to:Perform preventive maintenance and monthly safety inspections of assigned buildings, equipment, and systemsTroubleshoot equipment utilizing mechanical drawings and electronic schematicsAssist with contamination control and cleanroom cleaningCollect and provide analysis of technical dataCollaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirementsProvide customer interface for technical issues during payload processingPerform detailed and accurate record keepingHandle materials, including operating a fork truck, and participate in critical spare part controlPromote effective work practices, work as a team member, and show respect for co-workersRespond to emergency maintenance requestsSupport the overall goal of maintaining a neat, clean, and comfortable work environmentWork under limited supervisionMay be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.Perform other duties as required.Essential FunctionsPerform repairs, preventative and emergency maintenance for all facilities equipment including various electrical and mechanical systemsComplete documentation including logbooks, work orders, and purchase requisitionsAccomplish preventive and corrective maintenance on facilities support systemsDevelop processes and system procedures to ensure 24/7 operation with minimal down timePerform cleanroom cleaning in accordance with a contamination control planOccasionally participate in on-call rotation and work extended hours, if requiredMake recommendations for operational improvement for facility systemsFollow Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.Execute testing of critical facility systems.Setup and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of critical facility systems under simulated operating conditions, record result and provide data/quality records at project reviews.Perform operations and maintenance tasks that encompass the maintenance, repair, and operation of the critical facilities systems utilized during spacecraft processing.QualificationsActive TS/SCI clearanceHigh School diploma and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.Communicate both orally and written in a clear and concise mannerRead, understand, and work from Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Able to supervise contractors and vendors performing work in the facility as neededCapable of walking and moving around job sitePreferred Additional Skills6+ years of experienceIn depth knowledge of OSHA regulationsExperience working around space vehicle flight hardwareStrong oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently within a cross-functional teamAbility to multi-task and manage/accommodate multiple projects simultaneouslyOperations, maintenance, repair, installation and testing of the following systems:Pneumatic/Compressed Air SystemsHVAC/Clean Room SystemsSewage and Water systemsElectrical SystemsDigital Control SystemsChilled water systemsAir handlersPneumatic actuatorsDesiccant dryersDiesel generatorsUn-Interruptible power suppliesReciprocating & centrifugal compressorsMoisture & particulate filtrationMaintenance Management and SchedulingOverhead cranesPower Control Centers, Motor Control Centers, or Electrical SwitchgearInventory & sparesClean Room Operations and ProtocolsCrane Operations and Protocols and sustainmentDeveloping Purchase Requisition
