Electrical Inspector SpecialistThe Electrical Inspector Specialist performs advanced inspections on complex commercial, industrial, and multi-story projects, applying expert NEC knowledge to ensure safe and compliant electrical installations. The position supports major private development and City capital projects through targeted plan review, resolution of complex electrical issues, and participation in the Certificate of Occupancy process. It manages daily electrical inspection workloads and contributes to developing policies that enhance operational consistency and regulatory compliance. This role significantly influences the safety, quality, and reliability of major construction activity throughout the city.The ideal candidate will be an energetic, forward-thinking professional with extensive electrical knowledge and at least seven years of experience inspecting high-end commercial and industrial occupancies. The candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of building inspections.

All communication regarding application status and interview notifications will be sent via email- please monitor your junk/spam email for communication as messages will come from a system generated source.The following are key responsibilities of the position:Conducts complex electrical inspections to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code and related regulations to support safe and compliant commercial, industrial, and multi-family construction.Coordinates and balances daily electrical inspection assignments to maintain efficient inspection operations and ensure timely service delivery.Interprets and enforces electrical codes for contractors, engineers, developers, and property owners to resolve compliance issues and ensure proper installation methods and construction practices.Engages with contractors, developers, engineers, citizens, and City staff to support project coordination, respond to electrical inquiries, and ensure successful execution of City construction initiatives.Performs minor electrical plan reviews to verify permit accuracy and support code compliant construction and occupancy approvals.Participates in delivering technical training on advanced commercial electrical systems and code interpretation to support overall division competency.Develops and refines electrical inspection policies to improve operational consistency and uphold National Electrical Code requirements across the division.Requirements for the position include:Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.Experience: Minimum five years of experience in commercial electrical inspection or in a related field.Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and International Code Council Electrical Inspector Certification at time of hire.Reading: Work requires the ability to read code books, blue prints, spec books, memos, mail, technical reports, manuals, charts, tables, and plans.Math: Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra.Writing: Work requires the ability to write memos, letters, reports, correction notices, standard operating procedures, notice to comply agendas, meeting notes, daily route and tracking sheets, and email.Managerial: Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others, but may provide advice/direction to an employee with less experience/skills or tenure.Policy/Decision Making: Moderate - The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies.
