Position Overview • Perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. • Work on relays, transformers, switchgear, and medium voltage breakers. • Ensure safety, accuracy, and professionalism in all field operations. Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals. • Perform relay, transformer, switchgear, and breaker testing. • Operate testing equipment such as Doble, Megger, and Omicron. • Diagnose electrical issues and recommend corrective actions. • Travel to job sites and coordinate with clients. • Document test results and prepare detailed reports. Testing & Diagnostics • Perform protective relay testing and verify settings and functionality • Conduct transformer testing (insulation resistance, TTR, winding resistance, power factor) • Test switchgear for insulation integrity, mechanical operation, and functionality • Perform medium voltage breaker testing (timing, contact resistance, insulation, trip checks) • Identify and diagnose faults and recommend corrective actions Troubleshooting & Support • Utilize systematic troubleshooting methods to identify issues • Provide technical support and recommendations for repair or replacement • Assist with commissioning and system energization activities Field Operations • Travel to customer sites for testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting • Set up, operate, and verify calibration of test equipment • Work in substations, industrial facilities, and commercial environments • Follow all safety protocols including LOTO and PPE requirements • Coordinate with clients and contractors to minimize downtime Documentation & Reporting • Accurately record test data, procedures, and observations • Prepare detailed field service reports with findings and recommendations • Maintain equipment and service history records • Communicate results clearly to customers and internal teams Professionalism & Communication • Maintain a professional and safety-focused presence on job sites • Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members • Manage time efficiently to meet project schedules and deadlines
• Per diem and travel pay available (project dependent) Qualifications • Familiar with Doble, Megger, or Omicron equipment • Valid driver's license and ability to travel • Strong troubleshooting skills • CDL preferred, but not required Physical & Safety Requirements • Ability to work in physically demanding environments (lifting, climbing, confined spaces) • Strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE, and hazard awareness • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and travel as required Work Schedule • Typical schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shifts • Overtime and weekends as needed
