Electrical EstimatorOur client is a well-established mid-sized commercial electrical contractor based in Milford, CT, with over 20 years of experience serving commercial, institutional, and industrial clients. Their work spans multi-residential housing, commercial and industrial facilities, healthcare, educational facilities, retail, and more.We are seeking an Electrical Estimator who will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial, industrial, and municipal electrical construction projects. This role reviews drawings and specifications, performs detailed quantity takeoffs, develops labor and material projections, and builds complete cost proposals.
The ideal candidate understands commercial electrical systems, identifies scope gaps and risk factors, and works closely with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver strong bids while protecting company margins.Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare complete cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projectsPerform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and project documentsAnalyze bid documents, addenda, and contract requirementsSolicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractorsEstimate electrical systems including distribution equipment, switchgear, panelboards, lighting, and fire alarm systemsDevelop labor projections based on realistic productivity assumptionsIdentify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential risk factors within project documentsPrepare proposal summaries, bid clarifications, and final bid documentationParticipate in pre-bid meetings and project site walks when requiredAssist with project turnover to operations teams after project awardSupport change order pricing and cost analysis during project executionRequirements:5+ years of experience estimating commercial electrical construction projectsStrong knowledge of NEC and commercial electrical systemsExperience with public bid and negotiated construction workAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsProficiency with estimating software (McCormick Systems would be a huge plus) and Microsoft ExcelStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detailKnowledge of local labor and material pricing in the construction market preferredField experience as an electrician or project manager is a plusBenefits: Why join this company?Competitive base salary in the $110-130k range, negotiable based on your experienceHealth, Vision, and Dental Insurance (through union)Paid HolidaysPaid Time OffCompany Vehicle and Gas Card401(k) with Company MatchCareer Growth and Advancement OpportunitiesApply today!
