Electrical Engineering TechnicianCACI is seeking an Engineering Technician to support development and production of Optical Communication Terminals for space-based defense applications. This position is based in our Orlando, FL facility.Responsibilities:Provide technical support to engineering and development teams throughout product development and production phasesCollaborate with engineers to develop and refine troubleshooting strategies and methodologiesAssist engineers and manufacturing engineers with work instruction redlines and ECR/ECO processSupport test engineers in developing improvements of test proceduresDiagnose and resolve complex issues in EO systems down to the component levelIdentify root causes of performance issues and implement effective solutionsDocument test failures in the failure reporting system and provide detailed analysisDocumentation and Process Improvement:Document test procedures, results, and troubleshooting steps in a clear and concise mannerMaintain up-to-date records of equipment calibration and maintenanceGenerate detailed technical reports and analyses based on measurement dataContribute to continuous improvement initiativesTraining and Mentorship:Demonstrate expert level knowledge on all test cells and assist in the training of new test techniciansServe as a technical resource for production and test teamsManufacturing Support (As Needed):Support production builds and manufacturing test procedures as directedPerform optical or electrical testing and characterization as specified by work instructionsConduct tests to evaluate the performance of EO & laser components and systemsPerform precise EO measurements using Optical Power Meters, Spectrum Analyzers, and Network AnalyzersSupport assembly, testing, debugging, and rework of products during pre-delivery integration, acceptance test, and delivery phases of the product life cycleThe successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team and independently, take initiative, and work well with internal and external customers.Required Qualifications:Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Photonics, or a related field.Equivalent combination of relevant work experience and technical training may be substituted for degree requirementsExperience:US citizenship, due to nature of the work and contract requirementMinimum of 5 years hands-on experience as an electronics technician or engineering technicianProven experience with the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical and electro-optical test stations/equipmentExperience troubleshooting EO and digital circuitry down to the component levelExperience using multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and optical power metersExperience supporting engineering teams in product development or manufacturing environmentsSkills:Strong understanding of electro-optical principles and measurementsProficiency in using EO test equipment and softwareAbility to read, write, and comprehend detailed written and verbal instructions, assembly instructions, test procedures, schematics, and other engineering documentationExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to lift and carry 25-45 lbs.Desired Qualifications:5-10 years of experience troubleshooting CCAs to the component levelIPC-A-610 certificationExperience with electronic systems test and evaluationFamiliarity with fiber optic systems and free-space optical communicationExperience with software development using LabVIEW or PythonKnowledge of laser safety protocols and proceduresWhat You Can Expect:A culture of integrity.At CACI, we place character and innovation at the center of everything we do.
