Engineering Manager - ElectricalThis posting is for an experienced Engineering Manager - Electrical who will lead a multidisciplinary team of Electrical Engineers in the design, development, and lifecycle management of high-density liquid cooling systems for mission-critical data center environments. This Engineering Manager will provide technical and operational leadership across global electrical design, systems integration, validation, and manufacturing support while ensuring compliance with electrical standards (UL, CSA, CE).
The role operates in a global, matrixed environment with distributed teams, driving governance and continuous improvement for high-density liquid cooling products.ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a global multidisciplinary electrical engineering team supporting design, delivery, and lifecycle management of high-density liquid cooling solutionsProvide day-to-day technical and operational leadership across product development, systems integration, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing supportDrive execution of design validation, testing, and configuration control processesPartner with operations and quality teams to support production and resolve technical issuesOversee new product introduction (NPI), product transfers, and change management activities including global manufacturing alignment and buy vs. make decisionsReview and approve engineering designs, documentation, and deviationsEstablish and maintain robust engineering documentation including Bills of Materials, routings, and process flowsDrive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principlesLead capital planning and equipment strategy including justification, acquisition, and implementationCollaborate cross-functionally with commercial, supply chain, and leadership teamsMonitor performance metrics and operational trends, implementing corrective actionsLead development of electrical engineering standards for high-density liquid cooling globallyEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standardsDevelop team capability through hiring, coaching, performance management, and trainingProvide clear communication and reporting to senior leadership on engineering performance, risks, and project statusQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, Test, Fabrication, or other technical areaMinimum 5 years of experience in a management roleMinimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering or related fields (Data Center, Industrial, Automotive, Telecommunications, or Electrical Power preferred)Strong focus on NPI and product manufacturingFluency in English (read, write, speak)Proficiency with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, CREO 4.0, or similarKnowledge of NEC (NFPA79), UL 508A/SB, and/or UL Standards for HVAC systemsExperience with Design for Six Sigma and other quality toolsAdvanced MS Office skills with strong PowerPoint proficiencyPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Business, Manufacturing, and/or TechnologyExperience with MRP or enterprise systems in engineering or manufacturingFamiliarity with electrical schematics, PCB design, power electronics, and system integrationKnowledge of UL60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/UL standardsHands-on experience with electrical testing, validation, and compliance standardsCompetenciesGlobal Leadership & Collaboration: Leads multidisciplinary teams across regions, functions, and manufacturing sitesExecution & Results Orientation: Strong ownership, urgency, and accountability in fast-paced environmentsTechnical & Analytical Excellence: Structured problem-solving, data-driven decisions, continuous improvementOperational Discipline: Strong organizational capability, attention to detail, manages multiple prioritiesCommunication & Influence: Communicates effectively at all levels, presents technical concepts, drives alignmentPeople Leadership & Development: Builds high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance managementChange Leadership: Drives adoption of new processes, technologies, and ways of workingContinuous Improvement Mindset: Champions lean principles and process optimizationIntegrity & Professionalism: Highest standards of ethics and integrityResilience & Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic environments, manages competing prioritiesAdditional DetailsTravel Required: 15%At Vertiv, we offer the stability of a global leader in a growing industry and the opportunity of a startup.
