Electrical Engineering Manager – Hearing DevicesJohnson Health Tech (JHT) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager – Hearing Devices with direct hearing aid or hearing device development experience to help shape the next generation of hearing technology platforms. This role sits within JHT's global R&D organization and plays a critical part in advancing electrical architecture, embedded systems, and hardware performance across hearing initiatives. In close collaboration with SyncLync and other strategic business units, this leader will help build scalable, forward-thinking technology that drives the industry forward.

This is a high-impact engineering leadership role focused on innovation, technical rigor, and long-term platform development.Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Vice President of R&D, the Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the electrical engineering function for hearing device development programs. The ideal candidate brings prior experience developing hearing aids, hearing devices, hearables, or related electroacoustic products and a passion for advancing hearing technology through innovative, manufacturable design. They will translate product requirements into detailed technical execution plans, drive system architecture decisions, and guide projects from early concept through validation and production.

This role partners daily with product marketing, audiology, industrial design, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs meet performance, regulatory, cost, and timeline objectives. The ideal candidate combines deep hardware expertise with strategic thinking, challenging conventional approaches to hearing device design while delivering innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.Key Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & ArchitectureLead electrical engineering design and development of advanced hearing device systemsTranslate product requirements into detailed technical roadmaps and execution plansDrive architecture decisions across analog/digital hardware, embedded systems, and wireless communicationEnsure designs meet performance, regulatory, manufacturability, and end-use standardsEvaluate emerging technologies and patents to inform product strategyInnovation & Industry AdvancementChallenge legacy design assumptions in hearing device architectureIdentify opportunities for performance optimization, miniaturization, and system integrationBalance breakthrough innovation with practical production realitiesContribute to long-term platform strategy across hearing product linesTeam & Organizational LeadershipRecruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talentProvide clear technical direction and remove development roadblocksFoster a culture of ownership, accountability, and curiosityCoach engineers to deliver high-quality results within structured development processesProject & Cross-Functional ExecutionLead multiple projects through structured phase-gate developmentManage timelines, resources, and engineering budgetsPartner daily with global teams across R&D, marketing, suppliers, manufacturing, and qualitySupport production through design reviews, test data analysis, and continuous improvement initiativesRequirements:Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (required) Advanced engineering degree preferredExperience: Experience developing hearing aids, hearing devices, hearables, or other electroacoustic products, including working knowledge of hearing aid architecture, electroacoustic systems, wireless connectivity, and miniaturized electronics, is required. 5+ years of electrical hardware design experience 5+ years of demonstrated technical leadership 5+ years leading complex electrical hardware or embedded system development projects Experience interpreting patents and evaluating technical IPTechnical Expertise: Analog and digital hardware design Embedded systems and microcontrollers Wireless and digital communication protocols System-level integration across hardware and firmware Experience supporting products through manufacturing and productionLeadership & Mindset: Passionate about product development and innovation Entrepreneurial thinker within a structured R&D environment Visionary yet grounded in execution Comfortable operating in ambiguity Strong cross-functional communicator Willing to challenge norms while building consensusAdditional Details: Based in Cottage Grove, WI Reports directly to JHT VP of R&D Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~4x per year) Willing to collaborate across global time zones Benefits: Health & Dental Insurance Life Insurance 401(k) Paid Time Off benefits Product discounts Wellness programs Relocation Assistance
