Electrical / Controls Design Engineer | Youngstown, OH area | $100K-$130K + profit sharing

I’m partnered with a growing custom machine builder in the Youngstown area that designs and builds large-scale industrial equipment. Big, complex machines, and no two jobs look the same. They’re busier than ever and need a strong electrical designer to own the controls side of their projects.
This is a design role first. They already have programmers. They need the person who can look at a machine, figure out what it needs to do, and design the electrical system to make it happen.
What you’ll do
- Own electrical design on custom equipment: schematics, panel layouts, I/O architecture, component selection, and BOMs in AutoCAD Electrical
- Help scope and quote controls work up front, then design it once it sells
- Release clean drawings to the panel shop and support build and startup
- Help standardize their controls platform as they move to Siemens
- Support PLC code where needed (fluency is a plus, not a must)
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years designing electrical controls for industrial equipment (cranes, material handling, heavy machinery, or custom machine building)
- Real panel design experience: drawings, component selection, BOMs
- Strong in AutoCAD Electrical (EPLAN or similar works too)
- Understands how PLCs, drives, and power distribution tie together, plus the mechanical sense to see how a machine works
- Siemens a big plus, Allen-Bradley welcome
- EE degree preferred, but serious hands-on design experience counts just as much
- Must be a U.S. citizen (required for their controlled facility)
