Hiring: Electrical Engineer / Construction Manager (Electrical CM)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Construction Manager to support the construction management team on a major data center project in Youngstown, Ohio.

The successful candidate will provide technical oversight of electrical construction activities, coordinate with electrical contractors and design teams, ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable electrical standards, and support commissioning and project turnover activities.


Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical installations.
  • Monitor installation of incoming power feeds, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Review contractor submittals, equipment selections, shop drawings, single-line diagrams, RFIs, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with the design team to ensure electrical installations meet approved designs and project requirements.
  • Verify compliance with applicable NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local electrical codes and requirements.
  • Support receiving, inspection, and verification of electrical equipment delivered to the project site.

Construction Management

  • Monitor electrical subcontractor activities against project schedules, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Track contractor progress, equipment deliveries, long-lead materials, and key schedule milestones.
  • Review contractor progress billings and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate proposed electrical changes, including technical requirements, scope impacts, and cost implications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and construction issues.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Monitor field activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with approved JSA/SWMS and project safety requirements.
  • Support site safety initiatives related to electrical construction.
  • Manage and coordinate electrical Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Coordinate with utility providers regarding electrical service connections, substation activities, energization, and testing.
  • Oversee safe energization sequences and high-voltage electrical safety procedures.

Commissioning & Project Turnover

  • Support commissioning activities from mechanical completion through testing and final turnover.
  • Participate in field walks, inspections, and system walkdowns.
  • Support site acceptance testing and verification of electrical systems.
  • Witness full-load, failure-mode, heat-soak, and redundancy testing as required.
  • Review and track QA/QC punch-list items through completion.
  • Ensure as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test reports, spare-parts documentation, and other turnover requirements are completed and transferred to the operations team.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical construction management, or a related construction role.
  • Data center, mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or similarly complex project experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical construction methods, commissioning, and project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable local electrical requirements.
  • Experience with high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or related engineering/construction software is preferred.
