Overview
The main function of a design engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical systems engineer analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs.
Typical Day
* Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
* Review and approve a database development and determine project scope and limitations.
* Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
* Implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
* Typically 2-3 days in office per week. Some weeks may need to be in office every day. First round of interviews will be phone screen; 2nd round will be in person if candidate is local.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
Experience
8-10 years experience required.
Technical Skills
* Experience with design and development of power electronics or power conversion systems
* 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience
* Performs simulation of power electronic systems and select components
* Create electrical schematics
* Hands-on experience of power conversion product
Soft Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication and presentations skills
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
