Senior Electrical Engineer (Testing)Prysmian is the world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry. Each year, the company manufactures thousands of miles of underground and submarine cables and systems for power transmission and distribution, as well as medium low voltage cables for the construction and infrastructure sectors. We also produce a comprehensive range of optical fibers, copper cables and connectivity for voice, video and data transmission for the telecommunication sector. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Testing) to join a small, highly collaborative engineering team working on copper Ethernet cabling systems and hybrid fiber/copper solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands on, broad technical scope and thrives in a dynamic, fast moving development environment.
The successful candidate will contribute across the full product lifecycle—from concept and analysis through testing, documentation, and field support—acting as a technical generalist with depth in electrical engineering fundamentals.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the design, analysis, and validation of copper Ethernet cabling systems, including twisted pair performance characteristics (impedance, insertion loss, crosstalk, return loss, etc.)Contribute to the development and evaluation of hybrid fiber power (HFP/FMPS) and powered communications systems, including power delivery, protection, and integration considerationsAssist with electrical modeling, simulation, and lab measurement of cables, connectors, and system level performanceParticipate in failure analysis and root cause investigations related to electrical and signal integrity issuesConduct and document laboratory testing (electrical, thermal, environmental, and EMC related tests)Use network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, data loggers, and related instrumentationSupport development and execution of test plans aligned with industry standards (TIA, IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC, and others as applicable)Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and compliance teamsSupport interaction with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and field personnelAssist with preparation of technical documentation, drawings, reports, and internal design reviewsStay current with evolving Ethernet, cabling, and power delivery technologiesSupport Product Development related activities and product qualification effortsSupport standards development through participation and contributionSupport the industry through peer reviewed publicationProvide technical assistance during prototyping, pilot builds, and early deploymentsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required3-5+ years of relevant engineering experienceExperience in Circuit analysis, Electromagnetics and signal integrity, AC/DC power fundamentals, RF principles is required.Ability to work effectively in a small team, multi-disciplinary environmentWillingness to be hands on in both lab and office settingsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications10+ years of relevant engineering experience preferredExposure to structured cabling systems, Ethernet PHYs, or high speed copper linksFamiliarity with: Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Time domain reflectometry (TDR), Power electronics or fault managed power conceptsExperience with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for data analysisExperience in Product Development, R&D, etc. a plus!Awareness of TIA, IEEE 802, UL, NEC, or IEC standardsCurious and adaptable a technical generalist comfortable wearing multiple hatsComfortable moving between analysis, testing, documentation, and troubleshootingMotivated by real world engineering problems rather than narrow specializationInterested in working close to the hardware and understanding how systems behave end to endWork EnvironmentSmall, collaborative engineering team backed by a large enterpriseMix of hands-on laboratory work and analytical/problem solving tasksExposure to both product development and standards driven engineering
