This role ensures robust, efficient, and reliable electrical solutions by leveraging expertise in power electronics, motor design, and control algorithms, while incorporating best practices in thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance, and manufacturing processes.The position requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and product management teams to take designs from concept through prototyping and into full-scale production.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with hands-on manufacturing knowledge and a passion for continuous improvement in both design and production processes.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and Development of Electrical SystemsSupport, develop and optimize Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for AC motors and DC motor controllers for DC motor applications.Design, integrate and diagnose CAN-based communication architectures that support deterministic data exchange between motor controllers, sensors.Support motor design activitiesPerformance AnalysisEvaluating how the motor behaves under different operating conditions (speed, torque, load).Using tools like MATLAB/Simulink or Ansys Maxwell to simulate motor efficiency, thermal performance, and electromagnetic characteristics.Control Algorithm DevelopmentCreating or refining algorithms that control motor speed, torque, and position.Implementing algorithms in VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) or DC motor controllers.Ensuring smooth acceleration, deceleration, and fault protection using techniques like PID control, vector control, or field-oriented control (FOC).Testing and ValidationConduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level testing for VFD and DC motor controllerValidate designs against industry standards for safety, reliability, and electromagnetic compatibility.Develop and maintain test plans, instructions, and scripts (Python, C++) to ensure product durability and performance.Manufacturing and IntegrationOversee PCB design and fabrication, soldering, and wiring harness assembly.Collaborate on enclosure design, thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance.Coordinate assembly, testing, and validation of electrical systems.Utilize 3D printing (metal and polymer) for prototyping and component development.Ensure proper application of coating, plating, and painting processes for durability and performance.New Product DevelopmentWork cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and product management teams to integrate electrical design principles into new product development.Validate that changes to manufacturing processes do not impact overall product performance or reliability.Continuous Improvement and Root Cause AnalysisSupport root cause analysis (RCA) for failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.Identify opportunities for improving product reliability, quality, and durability through data-driven insights.Collaboration and CommunicationPartner with engineering and quality teams to define, measure, and record key performance metrics.Maintain accurate documentation and records for testing and design processes.Develop and present reliability reports to stakeholders, highlighting findings and recommending improvementsMeasures of PerformanceOn time delivery of project milestones.Proper execution of all milestone documentation.Adherence to the milestone process.Proper product validation yielding low post-launch quality issues.Maintain high level of trust and engagement with team members.QualificationsValues: Acts with a high level of personal integrityAnalytical and Problem-Solving Skills: strong analytical ability to interpret complex data and solve reliability-related problems.Strong knowledge of power electronics, embedded systems, motors and control algorithms.Strong knowledge with AC and DC Motor and power electronics design principlesProficiency in software and programming tools, including: MATLAB / Simulink, LabVIEW, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSpice or similar circuit simulation software, Ansys Maxwell or similar, Python, C++, and Creo Parametric or Solidworks.Experience with thermal management, EMI/EMC considerations, and mechanical integration.UL regulatory compliance experience and relevant standards for electrical systems.Knowledge of industrial communication protocols beyond CAN (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT).Experience with rotating equipment preferred (pumps, blowers, bearings, motors, impellers, etc.)Experience with high-speed rotating machinery.Possess strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skillsCI Mindset: Commitment to continuous improvement and learning cycles on process, capability, and reliability.Discipline: Ability to drive process disciplineMS Office Suite, and ERP systems (Oracle – JD Edwards preferred)Strong communication skillsPrepare and present internal milestone reviews, design proposal/review, lead FMEA development, competitive evaluation presentations.
