Electrical Engineer

Seeking applicants with an Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering degree (combined is preferred). Flexible on the specific degree title; the more important factor is the candidate’s technical background and hands-on experience.

Ideally, someone who bridges electrical hardware and software, particularly in embedded systems, sensor integration, electronics troubleshooting, and hardware/software interfaces. Not necessarily looking for a pure electrical design engineer or a pure software developer. Need someone who can work across disciplines, troubleshoot complex technical problems, and help integrate electronic subsystems, processors, sensors, and software into a functioning system.

Qualifying questions:

1. Embedded systems: Do you have hands-on experience with microcontrollers, embedded processors, firmware, or hardware/software integration? Can you describe a project you worked on?
2. Electrical troubleshooting: Have they designed, tested, or troubleshot electronic circuits or electrical systems? What tools and test equipment? Looking for experience with oscilloscopes, meters etc.
3. Programming: Experience with C, C++, or Python? Have they used programming to control hardware, process sensor data, automate testing, or troubleshoot a system?
4. System integration: experience integrating multiple components or subsystems that initially did not work together as expected?
5. Sensors and signal processing: Have you worked with cameras, sensors, data acquisition, digital communications, signal processing, or similar technologies?
6. Problem-solving and adaptability: Can they describe a situation where they were assigned a technical problem outside their primary area of expertise?
7. Hands-on engineering: Are they comfortable working in a laboratory or production environment, using test equipment, building prototypes, and troubleshooting hardware directly?
