Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.Electrical Engineer (Power Systems)As a member of the Construction Projects team, you will work with engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable SpaceX to achieve its long-term mission. This team is responsible for the delivery of large capital projects to various internal customer groups across the company. This position is based out of the McGregor Rocket Development Facility. Travel will accompany this role, and based on business needs, opportunities to work at other SpaceX facilities may occur in the future.Responsibilities:Collaborate and grow with the multi-disciplinary SpaceX Construction Projects team by performing (power-specific) engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities for a variety of critical and fast-paced company projects.Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projectsWrite, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-outResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-timeCoordinate with electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructureInteract with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholdersBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology3+ years of professional experience with the design or build of commercial or industrial power systemsPreferred Skills and Experience:Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac)Working knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility groundingExperience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switchesExperience creating and implementing process/design solutions with minimal impact to business operationsAbility to quickly assess an issue and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repairAbility to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlinesAcute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problemsAutoCAD/Revit – beginner to intermediate skill levelFamiliarity with the National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building CodeAdditional Requirements:Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heightsMust be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility requiredRemain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPEMust be able to lift up to 25lbs unassistedTravel up to 30% to other SpaceX locationsValid driver's licenseITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
