Electrical Engineer – Power & High-Voltage SystemsA venture-backed defense technology company is developing rugged, edge-deployed directed-energy platforms for counter-unmanned aerial systems. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and validating battery and high-voltage power electronics that move quickly from prototype to field deployment.Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesDesign high-voltage DC/DC converters, diode drivers, rectifiers, inverters, and power distribution/control circuitsPerform electrical simulations using SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink to optimize efficiency and reliabilityDevelop embedded and mixed-signal electronics integrating microcontrollers and FPGAs for telemetry, protection, and fault handlingDesign and validate battery management and rapid-discharge power systems with strong thermal considerationsCreate rugged wire harnesses and select connectors/cabling for high-power environmentsDrive hands-on prototyping, bring-up, and environmental/vibration/shock testingConduct DFM reviews and collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and qualityProduce schematics, BOMs, and wiring documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and export regulationsPartner with mechanical, optical, and controls teams for full system integrationQualificationsRequired Qualifications2–5 years of experience in electrical or power electronics engineering (aerospace, defense, robotics, or similar)Proficiency with Altium Designer, SPICE, and/or MATLAB/SimulinkExperience with high-voltage electronics, battery management systems, and diode driver circuitsHands-on experience with rugged electronics assembly and integrationFamiliarity with thermal management and EMI/EMC considerationsBS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fieldMust be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent ResidentNice to HaveExperience deploying hardware in harsh or remote environmentsFamiliarity with MIL-STD specifications and export complianceEMI/EMC shielding and mitigation experienceActive or obtainable security clearanceAdditional InformationWork Environment: Fast-paced, hardware-focused engineering culture with frequent lab and field testing and close cross-disciplinary collaboration.Information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
