nA Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer- Medium/High Voltageat Hanson. This role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
nHere'sa snapshot of some of the tasks you may perform in this role:
nDesign medium- and high-voltage power distributionand management systems for renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, BESS,EV charging, and microgrids.
nTraditional transmissionand distributiondesign, both underground and overhead.
nPrepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for complex electrical systems and equipment ranging from 15kV up to200kV, including three-line diagrams, substation layouts, grounding design, protection studies, and sag/tension analyses.
nConduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure compliance with corporate, national, and client standards.
nProvide technical support to field personnel for medium- and high-voltage collection systems, substations, and transmission equipment up to200kV.
nPerform electrical studies including short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, power factor, relay coordination, capacity analysis, reliability analysis, and ampacity calculations.
nTroubleshoot electrical equipment issues within supported renewable energy facilities.
nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams-such as civil and structural engineers-and remotely coordinate with colleagues across multiple offices.
nConduct due diligence, feasibility, conceptual design studies, and inverter-based resource (IBR) interconnection studies; prepare utility master plan reports.
nParticipate in project management tasks, including client meetings, system design coordination, equipment selection, technical specification development, shop drawing review, and construction administration.
nMentor engineering and design personnel within the Power Market team.
nTravel occasionally for client meetings, field reviews, and project assignments, with flexibility to work extended hours when project deadlines require.
nPerform otherduties asassigned by market principals and project managers.
nWhatWe'reLooking For
nWe feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
nSkills:
nProficiencywith Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation,Geographic Information Systems (GIS)and/or PLS-CADD.
nExperience using power analysis software such asEasyPower, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools.
nFamiliarity with voltage drop, fault current, and arc flash analysis tools (EDR,EasyPower, ETAP, SKM).
nKnowledge of CDGESsoftware;experience withGIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear)andSynergiis a plus.
nAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, clients, and stakeholders.
nStrong time management skills with the ability to prioritize, handle conflicting deadlines, andmaintainattention to detail.
nStrong relationship-building skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
nAbility to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and MVR review as applicable.
nEducation/Experience:
nBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
nLicensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
nMinimum of5years of experience in consulting with a focus on medium- and high-voltage power system design.
nDemonstrated experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittal reviews, and providing construction administration for power projects.
nPreferred but notrequired:graduatedegree, professional registrations, technical research, or publication experience.
nSalary Range: $95,000 - $160,000, based on experience
