Electrical Engineer – Level 3We are seeking a Level 3 Electrical Engineer to join our team at Caterpillar in Mossville, IL. This role focuses on the development and validation of power electronic components for inverters and converters. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on testing experience with high-power electronic components such as IGBT/MOSFET modules, capacitors, sensors, and PCBs, and will play a critical role in component sourcing, development, validation, and failure analysis.Key Responsibilities:Develop and validate power electronic components, including inverters/converters, power modules (IGBT/MOSFET), capacitors, and sensors.Work with suppliers and cross-functional teams to source and develop components.Conduct high-current, high-voltage, and high-temperature testing in lab environments.Plan and execute test procedures; design test fixtures as needed.Perform data collection, processing, documentation, and reporting.Analyze component failures and prepare technical presentations.Collaborate with electrical, thermal, mechanical, and quality teams throughout development and testing phases.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience OR PhD in Electrical Engineering (considered equivalent to a master's)Strong hands-on experience with electric drive and high-power component testingProficiency in using lab test equipment: oscilloscopes, high-voltage probes, data loggers, current transducers, HV power supplies, thermal/vibration chambersDemonstrated experience in test plan creation, execution, and results analysisPreferred Qualifications:Experience working across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and quality disciplinesProficiency in Python, Matlab, and Excel for data analysisExperience with double pulse testing and full characterization of power modulesUnderstanding of component behavior under various operating conditionsSoft Skills:Strong planning and organizational abilities, including scheduling and test planningCollaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with PMO and cross-functional teamsClear communication and ability to present technical results to varied audiencesAdditional Information:On-Site Requirement: This position is strictly 100% on-site in Mossville, ILInterview Process: Initial phone screen with the hiring manager (Madan Jalla) and possibly another team member, followed by formal video interview(s) via Microsoft Teams
