Our client, a leading energy infrastructure company, is hiring an Electrical Engineer II. You'll own the design and delivery of utility and substation projects that keep the power grid running, working with medium and high-voltage systems from 13.2 kV to 500 kV.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop utility and substation infrastructure projects, including substations, feeders, protection and control systems, and utility interconnections. You'll handle equipment selection, engineering analysis, and the technical deliverables that move projects forward.
- Create engineering output including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, specifications, and technical studies. Review and interpret technical specs and drawings to lock down accuracy.
- Support engineering projects through design and construction phases. Coordinate with utilities, internal teams, and external stakeholders to keep work aligned with utility standards, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and local codes.
- Travel occasionally (around 15%) for site visits, infrastructure assessments, and construction support.
Who You Are
- 3-6 years of electrical engineering focused on power distribution and substation design. You know medium-voltage and substation systems inside out, understand power system fundamentals, and have run engineering studies (short circuit analysis, coordination studies, load calculations).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. EIT Certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a set timeframe.
- You're skilled with engineering software like ETAP, SKM, CYME, or similar tools, and comfortable with AutoCAD or Revit. You understand substation equipment (transformers, breakers, relays, switchgear, protection systems) and can jump into complex calculations and analysis.
- Exposure to standby power systems, DER, PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure is a plus.
What Makes You Stand Out
- You manage multiple concurrent projects without dropping quality. You communicate clearly with project teams and clients.
- You're curious about emerging technologies and solutions that improve performance and reliability.
- You thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments and collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders.
What You'll Get
- Competitive salary
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plan options
- Health Savings Account contributions
- Company-paid life insurance and disability coverage
- 401(k) match
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Program
- Wellness benefits
- Paid sick time
- Recognized holidays
- Professional development support through a forward-thinking company culture
