Electrical Engineer – RoboticsThe Electrical Engineer – Robotics is responsible for designing and developing advanced robotic systems used in medical, military, and scientific research applications. This role supports the full product development lifecycle including requirements analysis, system architecture, circuit design, PCB layout, manufacturing support, testing, integration, and documentation.The ideal candidate is comfortable working across electrical, mechanical, and controls domains within complex robotic systems and thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical systems for robotic platforms and electromechanical devicesSupport full system architecture including:Power distributionNetwork communicationsSubsystem integrationDevelop solutions involving:Sensors and instrumentationEmbedded processors and controllersPower electronics and motor control systemsCommunication interfaces and distributed control architecturesParticipate in rapid prototyping, integration, debugging, and field testing activitiesDesign, simulate, prototype, and troubleshoot electronic circuitsCreate schematics and support PCB layout developmentGenerate fabrication packages, BOMs, and manufacturing documentationSupport PCB vendors and board assembly houses throughout productionDevelop and support:Analog and digital circuitsMCU, DSP, ARM, SoC, and SOM-based systemsBrushless motor control electronicsPower management systemsBattery and DC power systemsPerform hands-on debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instrumentationDesign and integrate systems utilizing:CANbusEthernet and GigERS232/RS422/RS485SPI and I2CUSB and BluetoothSupport distributed control architectures and vehicle communication networksDevelop device drivers and support embedded system integrationDesign wire harnesses and cable assemblies for robotic and mobile platformsSupport connector selection, routing, and EMI/EMC-aware cabling practicesCreate detailed build documentation for technicians and manufacturing teamsSupport systems with tight mechanical integration and ruggedized packaging requirementsPerform system-level testing, proof-of-concept validation, and troubleshootingSupport EMI/EMC testing and compliance activitiesPrepare detailed technical documentation within regulated environmentsMaintain configuration management and revision control documentationRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field3–10 years of relevant engineering experienceStrong understanding of:Embedded systemsPower electronicsElectromechanical integrationRobotic system architectureExperience with:PCB design and manufacturingSchematic capture toolsWire harness designComplex troubleshooting and debuggingAbility to work independently while managing multiple priorities and timelinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree preferredExperience with:Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) systemsAutonomy payloadsRuggedized military platformsEMI/EMC testing and mitigationCPLD, FPGA, VHDL, or VerilogFamiliarity with:AltiumSPICEEagleMilitary testing standardsTechnical SkillsEmbedded processors and microcontrollersAnalog and digital circuit designMotor controls and power systemsCANbus and Ethernet communication systemsPCB fabrication and DFM practicesBattery systems and high-current power distributionOscilloscopes and logic analyzersConfiguration management and technical documentationWork EnvironmentPrimarily office and engineering lab environmentOccasional exposure to manufacturing and integration areasMay involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, oils, and temperature fluctuationsLimited travel may be requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periodsAbility to occasionally lift up to 20 poundsAbility to wear required PPE in operational environmentsEOE (including Disability/Veterans)
