Onsite Full Time General

Electrical EngineerSanta Clara, CA or Emeryville, CAAbout Atomic MachinesAtomic Machines is ushering in a new era of micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler™ technology. This full-stack technology enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by offering manufacturing processes and a materials library that is inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It promises to unlock MEMS manufacturing for the many device classes frustrated by semiconductor methods and to open up entirely new product classes.

The Matter Compiler™ technology fully realizes the digital manufacturing dream: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out. The Atomic Machines team has also created an exciting first device—one that was only made possible by the existence of the Matter Compiler™ technology—that we will be unveiling to the world soon. Our offices are in Emeryville and Santa Clara, California.About the RoleWe are looking for a well-rounded Electrical Engineer who enjoys working in an agile environment. We expect our engineers to be self-motivated, willing, and capable of making decisions based on incomplete information, and to have a get-it-done attitude. The main line of work will be to build and integrate machine control systems for our custom manufacturing nodes.

Our system is built around a multiprocessor architecture, with distinct processors handling networking, general machine control, and specialty controls such as vision and motion. Interconnect selection, prototype cabling, and bring-up firmware are also important aspects of the job. We emphasize modularity for reuse to speed up subsequent builds of nodes with similar needs. What You'll Do:Design and build custom electronics for our automated manufacturing systemsIntegrate third-party electronicsSupport the building of engineering fixturesCreate and maintain component and module libraries for reuseGenerate manufacturing data and interact with vendorsWork closely with embedded systems, software, and mechanical engineering teamsWhat You'll Need:2+ years of working experience as an Electrical EngineerMaker mentality—being hands-on to quickly build, integrate, and test proof of conceptsSchematic entry and layout of 2-4 layer boards (Altium Designer preferred)Familiarity with some sensors and actuatorsExcellent bring-up and debugging skillsSMD soldering skills and familiarity with test and measurement equipmentAbility to write bring-up code for microcontrollers in C/C++ and test scripts in PythonGood documentation habitsFirst-principles thinkingB.S.
