Electrical/Electronics EngineerThis position is responsible for leading major electrical and electronic validation, test automation, and manufacturing test system projects in support of PACCAR truck components, vehicle systems, and embedded electronic devices.
The role develops, improves, and maintains complex hardware and software test systems used to validate electrical/electronic components, CAN/J1939 communication networks, embedded controllers, harnessing, and related vehicle systems. The position applies broad engineering knowledge across electrical hardware, embedded software, data acquisition, vehicle communication networks, test fixtures, and validation standards to solve complex problems, improve test methodologies, and provide technical support to PTC and division stakeholders.PACCAR is a Fortune 500 company established in 1905. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.Job Functions / Responsibilities:Lead major electrical/electronic validation and test system development projects involving complex vehicle systems, embedded electronic devices, CAN/J1939 communication networks, harnessing, and manufacturing test equipment.Develop, improve, and maintain physical test fixtures, automated test systems, data acquisition systems, and related software tools used to validate electrical/electronic truck components and vehicle systems.Apply broad engineering knowledge across electrical hardware, embedded software, vehicle communication networks, schematics, PCB design, data acquisition, and vehicle validation standards to resolve complex technical issues.Analyze project requests, define technical requirements, develop project plans, estimate budgets and schedules, and coordinate project execution with internal customers, PTC teams, and division stakeholders.Interpret software, electrical, and system-level requirements to develop functional test methods, validation steps, automated test sequences, and objective acceptance criteria.Create automated tests and reusable test methodologies to improve test efficiency, repeatability, data quality, and diagnostic capability.Troubleshoot electrical/electronic hardware, software, communication, and vehicle integration issues; determine root cause; and recommend corrective actions.Develop and support test systems involving CAN/CAN-FD/J1939, data acquisition hardware, embedded devices, LabVIEW or similar software, C/Python or similar programming languages, and vehicle electrical interfaces.Serve as a technical resource to PTC and division departments for electrical/electronic validation, CAN network troubleshooting, test fixture development, and automated test system implementation.Develop reports, technical summaries, test procedures, conclusions, and recommendations for engineering, manufacturing, and division stakeholders.Mentor and train engineers, technicians, and internal customers on test methods, CAN/J1939 communication, data acquisition, and electrical/electronic troubleshooting.Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal teams, PACCAR divisions, suppliers, and external technical contacts.Travel up to 15%, including domestic and international travel, to support PACCAR divisions, suppliers, vehicle testing, and manufacturing/test system implementation.Qualifications:10+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred, including experience in electrical/electronic validation, vehicle systems, embedded devices, test automation, manufacturing test systems, or related technical areas.Demonstrated experience developing, validating, or supporting electrical/electronic vehicle systems, embedded electronic devices, test fixtures, or automated test systems.Experience with CAN communication networks, preferably SAE J1939, including troubleshooting, data acquisition, message interpretation, and system integration.Experience developing hardware and software tools for engineering validation, manufacturing test, data acquisition, diagnostics, or test automation.Working knowledge of electrical measurements, digital I/O, analog I/O, harnessing, sensors, actuators, and vehicle electrical interfaces.Ability to interpret electrical, software, and system-level requirements and translate them into practical test methods, validation procedures, and automated test steps.Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical/electronic, communication, software, and integration issues and determine root cause.Ability to manage major technical projects with broad objectives, shifting priorities, and multiple stakeholders.Ability to summarize complex technical issues and communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, division, supplier, and leadership audiences.Ability to work well in a team environment, mentor others, and build productive cross-functional relationships.Ability to travel domestically and internationally.Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related STEM field required.
