You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop scalable, compliant, and manufacturable solutions supporting PLC, SCADA, DCS, MCC, and industrial control applications.This position offers strong opportunities for technical leadership, customer engagement, and long-term career growth within AWC's engineering organization.How you'll make an impact:Lead Complex Electrical and Controls Design ProjectsLead the design and development of industrial electrical and instrumentation drawing packages for automation and control system projectsDevelop detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, network architectures, cable schedules, and bill of materialsDesign low-voltage power distribution, PLC control panels, remote I/O systems, industrial networks, and motor control systemsSupport project execution from concept development through manufacturing, commissioning, and as-built documentationDrive Technical Quality and Design ExcellenceEnsure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and applicable industry codes including NEC, ISA, API, PIP, UL, and NEMAPerform design reviews and drawing checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and manufacturabilitySupport standardization efforts and help develop reusable engineering templates and best practicesAssist with troubleshooting, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projectsCollaborate Across Engineering and Project TeamsPartner with engineers, project managers, panel shop personnel, and field technicians to deliver high-quality solutions on scheduleSupport customer meetings, technical discussions, and project reviews as a subject matter resource for instrumentation and control systemsCoordinate with vendors and suppliers to select components and ensure technical compatibility across systemsExpand Automation and System Integration CapabilitiesSupport industrial automation systems involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS, instrumentation, drives, and industrial networking technologiesContribute to projects involving hazardous area classifications, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and process control applicationsHelp identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and long-term supportability of customer systemsStay current with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices to support innovative customer solutionsSkills you'll need:5+ years of experience in industrial electrical design, instrumentation, or controls engineering environmentsStrong experience designing industrial electrical and automation systems using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Siemens NX, or similar platformsProven experience with PLC control systems, motor control schematics, low-voltage power distribution, instrumentation, and industrial networkingWorking knowledge of industrial automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMI, VFDs, and remote I/O architecturesStrong understanding of NEC, ISA, API, PIP, UL, and NEMA standards and their application in industrial environmentsAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, technical specifications, and engineering standardsExcellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervisionHere's what will set you apart:Experience leading electrical and controls design efforts for industrial automation projectsExperience supporting system integration, panel fabrication, commissioning, or startup activitiesFamiliarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and hazardous area design requirementsExperience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or other industrial automation platformsExposure to industrial process industries including oil & gas, chemical, water/wastewater, manufacturing, or utilitiesAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or related technical disciplineDemonstrated leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement mindsetThe Rewards:Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)401(K) MatchCompetitive PayMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance PackageEmployer Paid Life InsurancePaid Time Off and Holiday PayCareer Development OpportunitiesAbout AWCAs employee co-owners, we're driven to do more than complete tasks; we build fulfilling careers by challenging assumptions and continually raising the bar.
