Electrical DesignerGeneral Summary:The Electrical Designer, with some supervision from the senior staff and/or the Manager of Electrical Engineering, will provide electrical analysis, design and drafting skills for lighting, power and associated control systems, and low voltage systems such as IT and fire alarm for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. The Electrical Designer will provide design and engineering to develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical, and mechanical components.Essential Job Functions:Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design and analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical and mechanical components.Using applicable codes and standards, design lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems (e.g. fire alarm systems, telecommunications/data networks, lighting control systems, power monitoring systems, etc.), and sizing of equipment.Knowledge of the NFPA standards, as they apply to the electrical designAble to adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.Possess / demonstrate the graphic ability to produce construction documents per company and client standardsCommunicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documentsConduct field measuring and checking at the project siteMaintain organized project file containing project calculations, schedules, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.With assistance, edit and draft project specificationsReview project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformanceRespond to RFIsPerform related duties as assignedEmployment Qualifications:Education:Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferredLEED accredited professional qualification preferredExperience:3-5+ years of experience in electrical engineering fieldExperience with short-circuit analysis and coordination (e.g.
