We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Electrical Controls Engineer within our engineeringteam to help support our bedding business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That’s right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.As an Electrical Controls Engineer you will have the opportunity to design, test, and troubleshoot new components.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by supporting the GSG/Machinery division.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. So, what will you be doing as an Electrical Controls Engineer?Design electrical circuits and build prototypes to prove conceptsProgram various PLCs (i.e. Phoenix, IDEC, A-B, Mitsubishi, etc.)Program in IEC 61131Knowledgeable in servo sizing and selectionKnowledgeable in designing and programming coordinated motion systemsPerform engineering calculationsCreate and revise detailed drawings and bill of materialsEnsure component introduction and change management activities are effectively completed and communicatedPerform board level and system level testingPrepare test procedures and protocols for techniciansDocument test results and generate high level summary reportsWork with others outside of engineering (i.e. manufacturing, purchasing, vendors, etc.)Review product design for compliance with electrical engineering principlesKnowledgeable of UL, NEC, NFPA, and CE standards and work with Test Laboratories on getting product certifiedTo be successful in this role, you’ll need:2-3 years Electrical Engineering experienceDemonstrated experience in many of the listed responsibilitiesWilling to travel domestically and internationally, and communicate and interact effectively with customers and suppliersThings we consider a plus:Hands on experience in troubleshooting servo systems, electro-mechanical systems, test engineeringAbility to manage multiple projects concurrentlyAbility to communicate technical information to non-technical departmentsSelf-motivated, organized, attentive to detailBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)What to Do NextNow that you’ve had a chance to learn more about us, what are you waiting for!
