Job DescriptionAn Electrical Apprentice in the aggregate industry coordinates and oversees the maintenance and repair of electrical systems in an aggregate plant, ensuring safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, supervising electrical technicians and contractors, managing spare parts inventory, maintaining compliance with safety regulations (e.g., NEC, MSHA, OSHA), and documenting all maintenance activities. This role requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, project management skills, and the ability to interpret technical documents like schematics and electrical codes.• Complete all assigned jobs safely and in the most efficient manner available. Use experience and training to make recommendations that will reduce costs to the assignment.• Seek out additional training in any identified developmental areas.• Direct supervision of assigned VMC personnel/ Electrical contractors, to assure that all VMC policies and safety procedures are being followed.• Assist the Electrical Supervisor / Manager and Operations Management with department cost control. Utilize electrical experience to organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time wherever possible.• Keep the Electrical Supervisor / Manager informed on the progress of all assignments, and of any variables that may change the scope of the assigned task.• Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA, and OSHA requirements.• Work with department leadership to implement changes necessary to comply with VMC guidelines and policies. Suggest improvements as necessary to make any changes manageable and sustainable.• Identify opportunities to improve electrical system reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance.• Interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner.• Develop and execute planned electrical maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical systems, including power distribution, motors, control systems, and automation, with minimal impact on production.This Job Description shall be considered the minimum requirements of the EMP Coordinator position. Trusts and allows people to do their job, holding them accountable for the full extent of their responsibilities.• Optimizes Work Processes - Enhances efficiency, improves workflows, and drives continuous improvement to achieve better outcomes.Responsibilities• High School diploma or equivalent.• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or 4+ years of training in the electrical field.• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the electrical trade laying out work and organizing jobs.• Experience in the mining industry is preferred.• Ability to interact with plant personnel and different levels of management when requests for service are received.• Demonstrable experience interpreting pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NESC, & MSHA).• The EMP Coordinator, when directed, shall 'lay out' the requested task, determine manpower and supplies needed, and forward information to the Electrical Supervisor / Manager for ordering of materials and scheduling.• Flexible and adaptable to coordinate the day-to-day work requirements, as well as handle situations that may arise from time to time which are outside of the normal routine.• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, including the NEC, MSHA, and OSHA, and promote a safety-conscious work environment.• Understand VMC's electrical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain safe operating standards, continually improving electrical safety through observation and coaching of apprentices.• Must have a valid drivers license and drive a pickup truck.• Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.• Local travel as well as a periodic need to travel by vehicle and airline.• Must be able to lift 40lbs and occasionally lift heavier items.• Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.• Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.• Time in the office performing administrative tasks, planning schedules, and analyzing reports.• Working outdoors in various weather conditions and potentially in environments with loud noise levels or moving mechanical parts.• Ability to wear PPE with on site/location.• The ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle unexpected situations is crucial.Vulcan Materials Company is an equal opportunity employer.Job InfoJob Identification 273Job Category Plant/Equip MaintLocations 1071 Dover Rd, Grand Rivers, KY, 42045, US (On-site)
