eLearning / Instructional Designer
Location: Albany, NY Pay Rate: $45/hr W2 Duration: 12 months Anticipated Start Date: Immediate Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7.5-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch Work Arrangement Hybrid position – fully remote is not permitted. NYPA requires a minimum of 3 days onsite per week, with the possibility of being fully onsite depending on department requirements. Remote work privileges may be revoked based on business needs or performance. For remote workdays, NYPA provides desktops and dedicated workstations that candidates access remotely using their personal equipment. Candidates must have appropriate equipment and a reliable internet connection.
Project Overview This role will support NYPA staff by addressing capacity needs related to the design and development of eLearning training requested by various business units. The position will also support the conversion of existing LMS courses into formats compatible with NYPA's new Workday LMS.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop training materials using NYPA-approved software, including: Articulate, Adobe, Vyond, Camtasia, WellSaid Labs, Kahoot, Microsoft tools
- Design user interfaces and training solutions for iPhone, iPad, desktop, and PowerPoint.
- Write audio scripts to support technical and complex topics.
- Develop engaging animations and interactive learning experiences.
- Create relevant scenarios in collaboration with content owners and subject matter experts.
- Research technical topics and identify key information needed for effective knowledge transfer.
- Identify, locate, or generate NYPA-specific visuals using provided sources.
- Design training courses based on input from NYPA content owners and subject matter experts.
- Develop new interactions for existing courses, including videos, LMS eLearning courses, and PowerPoint-based training.
- Convert technical and complex source documents into engaging training solutions.
- Develop learning objectives and identify key knowledge-transfer goals.
- Create engaging PowerPoint presentations and corresponding LMS modules.
- Publish SCORM 1.2, xAPI, and AICC-compliant courseware and MP4 videos.
- Create and modify graphic elements and interactive learning components.
- Create and edit video content using PowerPoint, Camtasia, Vyond, and Premiere.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Provide concise project status updates.
- Organize module elements and manage the collection, labeling, and storage of materials for future updates.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience developing online training using Articulate products is mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency with Articulate Studio and Rise and/or Storyline.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills with strong storytelling, visual design, animation, and scenario-based learning capabilities.
- Experience developing engaging eLearning and LMS-based training solutions.
- Experience creating audio scripts from source documents and SME feedback.
- Ability to develop scenarios and interactive content aligned with learning objectives.
- Ability to work independently and meet quality and project timeline requirements.
- Strong project management and client/SME interaction skills.
- Experience working with technical and complex subject matter.
- Experience publishing SCORM 1.2, xAPI, and AICC courseware.
- Experience creating or modifying graphics and interactive elements.
- Experience editing video using Camtasia, Vyond, Premiere, or PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables with minimal supervision.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in a learning-related field or significant relevant experience required.
- Degree in Organizational Learning / Training & Development preferred.
- Portfolio of eLearning solutions demonstrating animation and storytelling techniques is required.
Important: NYPA cannot access Google Drive portfolios. Candidates should provide their portfolio through an accessible format that NYPA can review.
Additional Engagement Requirements
- Fully remote positions are prohibited.
- Hybrid schedules require a minimum of 2–3 days onsite depending on the assignment and may become fully onsite based on business needs.
- Vendors must disclose foreign national status and all visas at the time of candidate submission.
- A Benefits Waiver and Ethics Disclosure will be required during onboarding.
- NYPA does not provide laptops. Candidates must use their personal equipment to remotely access the NYPA-provided desktop/workstation on virtual workdays.
- NYPA holidays are unpaid/non-working days; no work is permitted when the business is closed.
- Candidates are paid only for actual hours worked. There are no paid vacation or sick days.
