EHS Supervisor I

Basic Job Functions:
- Lead themselves and a team of 4 coordinators, 1 EHS admin, and 2-3 EHS Techs in the following responsibilities.
- Build strong relationships to foster excellence and engagement in safety culture and challenging the status quo.
- Lead division teams to identify hazards and implement solutions.
- Conduct regular safety and environmental audits across the facility, providing coaching and feedback to teammates and departments.
- Has the authority and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions exist and to lead incident investigations through corrective action closeout.
- Develop and analyze Safety, Health, and Environmental reports, partnering with operations to address trends.
- Advise management on concerns, offering critical support during investigations and major incidents.
- Design, implement, and manage health, safety, and environmental training programs and systems.
- Spearhead safety-related projects to drive continuous improvement.
- Best mark safety initiatives, projects, policies, and procedures with other Nucor divisions.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, local laws, EPA regulations, and OSHA standards.
- Lead the EHS team to be technical resource and consultants in the long-term planning and implementation of facility improvements.
- Develop and implement teammate training and PDP programs as well as provide performance appraisals and recommend compensation adjustments based on performance.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and accountability to the EHS Team.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Buildings Group Texas will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future). Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in leadership, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work off shifts and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel to other Nucor sites and corporate conferences on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in environmental and/or safety management
- Technical degree in a related field
- Demonstrated working knowledge of: EPA regulatory compliance (permitting, inspections, audits) OSHA standards, recordkeeping, and reporting Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems
