EH&S Specialist – Stanfield, NC, USA
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will serve on our on‑site EH&S team, ensuring plant compliance with all state and federal regulations and supporting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assist the workers’ compensation provider with the administration of WC claim processes.
- Provide industrial athletic and ergonomic training to employees.
- Manage and administer employee health programs and health testing.
- Ensure plant compliance with State and Federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate EH&S Committee and staff activities.
- Conduct individual and group training sessions on environmental and safety topics for all employees.
- Work with safety consultants, vendors, and government agencies to secure education and resources for approved compliance programs.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and recommend changes and improvements.
- Perform job safety analyses and other EHS projects/initiatives.
- Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance, follow‑up, and close‑out of findings.
- Maintain relevant EHS logs and KPI reports monthly or as needed, including energy, waste and water data.
- Measure the effectiveness of safety and environmental courses to confirm training application on the job.
- Administer the safety incident reporting program and EH&S audit/self‑inspection program.
- Prepare reports related to EH&S performance and communicate them to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, OSHA 30/186, or equivalent).
- 3–5 years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Certification in 1st Aid, CPR & AED.
- In‑depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local Environmental Health & Safety/OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and measure safety training and its effectiveness.
- Proficiency with computers, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Smartsheet.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality regarding personnel records.
